Overview

This unit is the capstone unit for the Bachelor of Business and as such draws together the learning and experiences gained from previous business units, and does so through the lens of critical self evaluation and a growing awareness of the professional self. The unit provides you with the opportunity to gain an understanding of workplace interpersonal dynamics and evaluate key workplace skills (e.g. research and communication skills) in order to confidently, professionally and skilfully navigate your transition into the workplace.

1. FIRST SEMESTER: demonstrate critical reflective thinking with respect to the development and application of professional practice SECOND SEMESTER: conduct high-quality industry research utilising appropriate technologies
2. FIRST SEMESTER: synthesise high quality industry information to provide relevant business insights and make informed decisions SECOND SEMESTER: discuss appropriate methods for managing different perspectives in a workplace context
3. FIRST SEMESTER: analyse and evaluate business related inputs to identify areas of growth, differentiation SECOND SEMESTER: analyse high-quality industry information to provide relevant business insights and make informed decisions
4. FIRST SEMESTER: communicate in written and verbal form to produce professional artefacts. SECOND SEMESTER: reflect on the development of teamwork skills for application to the workplace, using appropriate technologies

Workload

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
