The Commercial law unit focuses on learning to identify and apply the essential legal rules to real-world business situations in Australia. For business students, the goal is to develop the practical skill to use legal principles to identify, interpret, and solve fundamental legal problems in a business context. This practical understanding enables you to appreciate how different business structures are legally set up, understand and manage common business risks, implement business opportunities while operating lawfully, and recognise when professional legal advice is necessary. By learning to apply the rules related to negligence, contract, consumer protection, data protection, and business structures, you will be able to navigate the legal landscape and prevent serious legal consequences in commercial enterprises.
