In this unit you will be introduced traditional and modern practices involved in crop production which includes environmental, genetic, physiological and cultural factors influencing crop growth and yield, and emphasises the growth, development and yield of several important tropical crop species and their management for sustainable production. You will participate in practical sessions which are designed to enhance your understanding of plant growth, post-harvest requirements, as well as soil and environmental factors affecting plant growth.

- Apply specialised knowledge to important factors affecting crop growth and yield to achieve sustainable production of important tropical crops;
- Analyse, interpret and present scientific data effectively.
