Overview

This unit will introduce you to the need to ensure infrastructure operates and is maintained in an appropriate management fashion. This unit will focus on identifying and managing relevant asset management data. Participants will be exposed to manipulating technical detail within asset management software enabling deterioration modelling and treatment tradeoffs. It will cover information management (maintaining inventories, condition rate methodologies, information planning decision making and long-term impacts, asset usage data) and asset maintenance management (treatment options, management of asset use, maintenance management and strategy evaluation).

Workload

The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of 3-6 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-9 hours of independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning, peer-directed learning and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities.
