This unit will build on your existing design skills towards information visualisation for the general public and stakeholders in specific industry sectors. You will explore creative use of visual metaphors, data organisation and digital technologies to create public works. You will learn the principles of information visualisation through a series of practical hands-on exercises. The unit will expose you to key issues about imperfect data, misinformation and misrepresentation through contemporary and current events. You will also learn about good data practices, tips and tricks on data visualisation, and the role of information in society more broadly. The knowledge gained in this unit will enable you to undertake projects using real-world data and tackle future design challenges as information designers.
