Overview

This unit demonstrates the usefulness of incorporating recent theoretical and policy developments in international trade. We focus on trade policies for the developing nations, regional trading arrangements, and international monetary relations, such as the balance of payments, foreign exchange, exchange rate determination, exchange rate systems, international exchange rate adjustments, and macroeconomic policy.

Learning outcomes

2. analyse and present how economic systems engage in and are impacted by global trade dynamics
3. critically analyse the current issues, trends, and developments in the global economy, evaluating their impacts on economic systems, policy, and stakeholders.

Workload

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
