Overview

This unit monitors primary professional experience in the Diploma of Tertiary Studies (Primary stream) and Diploma of Higher Education (Primary double degree stream). You will complete the required number of days and activities specified in the professional experience expectations document. Your learning will be supported by relevant staff in the Faculty of Education, and by teacher mentors in the education setting in which you are placed. You will also complete a literacy hurdle task to demonstrate your readiness to succeed in an ITE course.

Learning outcomes

1. complete the required number of days of professional experience and activities specified in the professional experience expectations document
2. document your professional learning through your Reflection Journal, lesson plans and relevant resources
3. achieve a satisfactory level of progress in your development as a teacher in line with the activities specified in the professional experience expectations document and the professional experience report.
4. achieve a minimum passing grade on a literacy hurdle test

Workload

You must attend professional experience briefing sessions and take responsibility to view information and resources provided on your Moodle site prior to your placement commencing. You must attend your professional experience days and meet the required number of days as specified in the professional experience expectations document. You must have satisfactorily completed the literacy hurdle test by the end of semester 2.
