EDF4068 · Teaching performance assessment

Overview

This unit has been designed to be taken in conjunction with your final professional experience placement. This unit prepares you for your transition into professional practice as a teacher and invites you to develop a deep and actionable understanding of your current and future role as a teacher. Drawing on a range of research evidence and the knowledge, skills and professional experiences developed during your course, you will complete a teaching performance assessment (TPA) in which you will plan, teach, assess, analyse a range of evidence, and critically reflect on your performance. You will depict your progress against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at the Graduate level and against the graduate attributes as evidence of your impact on learner’s learning and your readiness to teach.

Learning outcomes

1. develop and document evidence of the impact of your teaching practice on the learning outcomes of the learners you teach
2. document and provide evidence of your professional practice against achievement of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at the Graduate level
3. evaluate and reflect on your knowledge and skills as professionals and identify areas for future professional learning

Workload

The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per teaching period comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Usually, you can expect to engage with: • 24 hours* of scheduled learning delivered on campus via weekly/regular directed learning activities; and • the remaining hours to be allocated towards self-directed/independent study *Subject to variation due to professional experience requirements Scheduled learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
