This unit deepens your expertise in addressing complex career-related challenges faced by diverse clients, including both job seekers and employed individuals. Building on foundational theories, this unit emphasises applying advanced techniques in career counselling, integrating cultural competence, ethical considerations, and the latest developments in career development theory. You will design and implement sophisticated career development programs tailored to specific stages of professional life and diverse workplace contexts. This unit prepares you to empower clients to navigate significant transitions, respond to evolving workplace demands, and manage career-related stress and crises with nuanced, culturally responsive approaches.

Learning outcomes

  1. critically apply advanced theories of career development and decision-making to complex client cases, demonstrating an ability to tailor approaches to diverse needs and contexts
  2. identify, evaluate, and utilise various career information and resources from community agencies, government facilities, and professional organisations, applying these resources effectively within career counselling interventions
  3. analyse and address multifaceted challenges faced by individuals in the workplace and job seekers, integrating career development strategies to support client resilience and adaptability
  4. demonstrate expertise in designing and implementing sophisticated career development counselling programmes, showcasing advanced skills in both individual and group counselling contexts
  5. identify and address specific issues related to career counselling with diverse or special populations, applying advanced career counselling techniques, strategies, and culturally responsive approaches to meet the unique needs of these groups.

Workload

Minimum total expected workload equals 144 hours per semester comprising: (a.)
