Overview

This unit aims to introduce you to human-centred information systems design, design thinking process and a way of making sense of the interrelated parts of a system and how the system works over time. You will practice designing an information system by applying the design concepts introduced in this unit.

  1. Explain the foundational principles of design and systems thinking and their application to information systems development and security;
  2. Appraise and demonstrate skills in ethically employing key design and systems thinking methods, tools and techniques;
  3. Undertake a critical and empathetic analysis of a problem setting using appropriate design and systems thinking tools and techniques;
  4. Discuss the impact of design practice on individuals, communities, organisations and society;
  5. Reflect the importance of human centred design and evaluation in dealing with uncertain, messy and complex information ecosystems.
