Workload
288 hours for 12 credit points over the course of one semester. In accordance with the University’s Course Structure Policy, a 12‑credit‑point unit requires you to spend approximately 24 hours per week engaged in learning activities. Over a standard 12‑week semester, this equates to a total expected workload of 288 hours. As this is a research‑focused unit, the pattern of weekly activity will vary depending on the stage and nature of the project. Across the semester, you are expected to engage in a combination of independent laboratory or research activities, regular meetings with your academic supervisor(s), participation in tutorials, workshops, and required training, and private study, including literature and database searching, data analysis, and the preparation of written reports. While the distribution of hours may fluctuate from week to week, you should ensure that your overall commitment averages 24 hours per week to meet unit learning outcomes and project milestones.
