This unit is the research project component of the Master of Genome Analytics. This Masters course provides training in the analysis of genomic data sets. You will undertake a supervised research project involving research of a publishable standard which forms the basis of a thesis presented at the end of the project period. In this unit you will present seminars on your research and you will be trained in advanced bioinformatics analysis of complex biological data sets.

Learning outcomes
- Apply appropriate bioinformatic tools to analyse complex data sets;
- Critically review the scientific literature in the application of genomics in biomedical research;
- Employ critical and creative thinking to analyse scientific data;
- Critically evaluate and interpret data from a research project using appropriate statistical analyses and develop appropriate interpretations;
- Effectively communicate research outcomes in verbal and written form using appropriate tools to a scientific audience.
Workload
An average of 48 hour per week including laboratory work, data analysis work, reading of relevant scientific literature and preparation for assessments.
