Last checked: 23 Aug 2026 UTCOverview
In the age of disruption, established business processes are changing and new organisational forms are emerging. Traditional management and managerial decision-making are also being transformed, largely in response to shifts in the competitive landscape and technological advances, such as the use of AI and advanced predictive analytics. Amidst such change, to remain competitive, indeed to claim new competitive territory, an organisation’s strategic management must successfully navigate the balance between strategic focus and strategic agility. Building on a foundation in the study of strategic management, management decision-making and business process design, this unit explores contemporary practice of strategic management with a particular emphasis on the role of generative AI, data and new organisational and business forms. You will work in virtual teams as you employ design thinking and agile methods to demonstrate deep understanding of strategic management within contemporary organisations.
