This unit equips you with the knowledge and capabilities needed to navigate career transitions throughout your professional journey. The unit adopts a holistic approach, positioning professional development as a dynamic and ongoing tool that evolves in response to changing professional and personal contexts and needs. You will learn to assess the critical factors that influence career effectiveness, including personal capabilities, interpersonal dynamics, and contextual considerations. This enables genuine understanding of one's unique development needs and, by grounding professional development in personal growth, allows you to design career growth approaches purposefully. Upon completion, you will have developed self-awareness, strategic thinking capabilities, and sustainable practices that position you to optimise career effectiveness and wellbeing while crafting thriving futures for yourself and your community.

Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
