This unit introduces you to operations management (OM) and supply chain management (SCM). For OM, you will identify a company’s issues and learn to organize and apply OM strategies and techniques to turn the company around for sustainability. For SCM, you will identify and learn to solve problems of a focal company and its supply chain actors/partners to satisfy the end customer better than your closest competing supply chain. You will work in groups and then individually write a reflection on your completed tasks.

Learning outcomes
- analyse operations and supply chain management concepts, strategies and techniques to solve company issues and meet sustainability challenges
- evaluate a company and its global supply chain and recommend operations and supply chain management concepts, strategies and techniques to strengthen its sustainability
- apply reflective skills conducive to diverse audiences on operations and supply chain management decisions
- demonstrate teamwork skills in planning, coordinating, and executing projects.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
