MKX3501 · Australian marketing expedition
2027 Handbook6 credit pointsLevel 3Department of Marketing
Overview
The Australian Marketing Expedition is designed as a flagship experiential program that brings to life the Marketing Department’s ambition to move beyond classroom mastery toward closer appreciation of the unique Australian context in marketing education and practice. The expedition will take you across Australia — from the north-west to the north-east coast — engaging directly with organisations in the Mining and Resources, Agriculture, and Tourism sectors, alongside Indigenous corporations and communities, and key cultural and environmental sites. Through this journey, you will examine not only the financial outcomes of marketing decisions, but also their social and environmental consequences across diverse stakeholder groups. The program is intentionally designed to expose you to the full complexity of markets as lived systems — where commercial activity intersects with community, sustainability, and long-term value creation, with the goal of equipping you with the judgement required to operate in complex, real-world environments. Transport and accommodation will vary from the comfortable to the rustic, reflecting the diversity of contexts encountered. This is central to the design: a deeply immersive experience that challenges you to adapt, engage, and learn in ways that traditional classroom settings cannot offer.
