Overview

You will work under the guidance of your supervisors to complete a major research project that systematically investigates a research problem that is of interest to the marketing discipline. This involves clearly articulating the purpose of the research and its contribution, formulating relevant research questions and deploying appropriate research methodologies to address the research problem in a manner that is up to the standard of the discipline.

Learning outcomes

  1. articulate a set of well-developed research questions that are of interest to the marketing discipline
  2. conduct an in-depth review of relevant literature and clearly position your research in relation to that literature
  3. demonstrate the ability to develop well justified objectives, conjectures, propositions or hypotheses
  4. apply appropriate research methods to address the research problem in a manner that is up to the standard of the discipline
  5. clearly describe the findings of your research and articulate its academic and managerial contributions
  6. develop the ability to communicate all of the above through a written research thesis and oral presentation.

Workload

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 432 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
