Learning outcomes

1. Identify important chemical, physical and biological hazards in the environment and analyse related risks to health from environmental factors in Australia;
2. Critically appraise the epidemiological literature which informs the evidence base for environmental health risk control strategies;
3. Apply appropriate techniques for exposure assessment and risk assessment;
4. Communicate fluently using appropriate terminology about hazards, risks and risk management interventions in a variety of contexts, including community engagement, and;
5. Evaluate evidence-based interventions to manage common environmental risks and reduce harm.

Workload

6 hours off campus, self-directed learning per week, 4 hours teacher directed learning per week, plus 20 contact hours over 3 block days.
