Overview

This unit introduces research methods used in quantitative and qualitative studies in health research. The unit will cover concepts including how to construct an answerable question, searching the literature, sampling methods, data collection and study design – including both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

  2. Distinguish between the use of quantitative and qualitative research designs in health research.
  3. Determine the use of appropriate data collection methods in health research.
  4. Evaluate the impact of bias in quantitative and qualitative study designs.
  5. Summarise issues of cultural context and ethical principles in health research.

Workload
