The aim of this unit is to further develop your knowledge of the physiological and psychosocial factors influencing wounds and pain in the individual. You will gain a critical and comprehensive knowledge of wound and pain assessment strategies, with an ability to apply this knowledge in the healthcare setting. You will begin to develop evidence-based knowledge that will support your professional clinical practice in caring for individuals who are experiencing wounds and/or pain.

Learning outcomes
- Describe the physiological and psychosocial aspects that impact wounds, wound healing, persistent and acute pain in individuals
- Demonstrate the ability to undertake a comprehensive wound and pain assessment of the individual incorporating various aspects within the health care setting
- Discuss the therapeutic and complementary measures in the management of wounds and pain for the individual
- Demonstrate how evidence-based practice may impact the educational needs of the individual requiring wound and pain management
Workload
