Overview

This unit focuses on the dynamic context of project delivery. The unit uncovers the role that project leaders play in managing capabilities, resources, professional standards and the evolving expectations that shape projects. With a strong focus on team composition and team dynamics, you will work in a team to address real-world project management problems using a future-focused lens. You will build confidence as a reflective practitioner—critically analysing your own leadership style, decision-making approaches and ethical principles to deliver meaningful project outcomes. You will learn to navigate the complexities of contemporary project contexts —setting you apart, ready for the challenges ahead.

Learning outcomes

  1. Teaching period 1: demonstrate an understanding of the complex context of project delivery and the unique dynamics that arise within project teams Teaching period 5: analyse complex organisational and interpersonal dynamics influencing project delivery in team and leadership contexts
  2. Teaching period 1: identify and analyse the professional standards and ethical principles associated with project management decisions Teaching period 5: evaluate professional standards and ethical principles to inform responsible project management decision-making in complex organisational contexts

Workload

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
