In this unit, you will develop knowledge, skills, and clinical judgement in pharmacotherapy as it applies to community-based emergency health. You will explore the wide range of pharmaceutical agents that paramedics encounter in practice and examine the social, political, legal, and ethical implications of drug use and misuse for individuals, families, and communities.

- Evaluate pharmacological principles to select and administer appropriate medications in paramedic practice.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the calculation of drugs for administration by paramedics
- Formulate culturally-safe and evidence-based pharmaceutical education for patients and carers that fosters informed decision-making.
- Incorporate principles of planetary health and social responsibility to paramedic practice.
Workload
