PAR4001 · Literature review

Overview

In this unit you will develop research skills, analytical abilities, communication skills, and acquire advanced knowledge in a specific area relevant to paramedicine. Under academic guidance, you will undertake an advanced research program, to design and develop a plan for a structured, comprehensive review of the literature in a topic area of interest to you. Further to this you will develop communication skills in both written and oral formats to convey your research process and findings to professional audiences.

Learning outcomes

1. Identify an area of knowledge deficit relevant to paramedicine.
2. Design a structured, answerable research question.
3. Formulate a comprehensive literature search strategy to identify relevant literature.
4. Consolidate and appraise the literature, and synthesise evidence.
5. Formulate effective communication strategies for peers and professional audiences using various formats.
6. Integrate professional attitudes and attributes in the process of research.
