Overview
This unit is the first of two units that support your supervised clinical practice and portfolio development in the Master of Paramedic Practitioner. You will establish your supervised clinical practice plan, clarify supervision and governance arrangements, and begin collecting evidence of workplace-based learning and capability development. The unit supports integration of advanced clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning and therapeutic medication management into supervised practice. You will record supervised clinical practice hours, submit placement evidence, engage with feedback and reflect on your developing advanced practice capability.

Learning outcomes
- Design and justify a supervised clinical practice plan that integrates professional learning opportunities and expectations for advanced paramedic practice.
- Apply advanced clinical knowledge, assessment and management to provide safe, evidence-informed care within approved scope of practice, credentialing and clinical governance requirements.
- Integrate evidence from learning and clinical practice experiences to illustrate progression towards the Paramedic Practitioner capabilities.
- Analyse and integrate feedback to evaluate professional performance, identify learning priorities and implement strategies for ongoing continuous professional development.
- Integrate advanced professional communication, collaboration, and interprofessional practice to facilitate safe, person-centred care in complex advanced practice.
- Evaluate and synthesise ethical, medico-legal, cultural safety, and clinical governance considerations to justify professional judgement in complex advanced practice.
Workload
Compulsory work-integrated learning: You will complete a minimum of 150 hours of supervised clinical practice/work-integrated learning during this unit. These hours will support professional skill development, workplace-based assessment, supervisor feedback and portfolio evidence collection relevant to Paramedic Practitioner capability development. Interacting with course materials and completion of assessments: You will engage with Moodle asynchronous learning activities, synchronous support sessions, portfolio preparation and assessment tasks equivalent to approximately 1 hour per week across the teaching period.
