Overview

In this unit, you will examine reform and development in health services from an international, regional and national perspective. We will focus and explore the implementation of health policy reform and the multitude of issues, drivers, demands, complexities and consequent impacts related to health system reform. In this unit, we will concentrate on international and national governing entities, the Indonesian health care system, developed and developing country health systems, roles of institutions (hospitals and primary health care), and various applications of reform movements/models in care delivery.

  1. Comprehend a systematic theoretical framework for describing the design of a national health system.
  2. Identify issues and challenges in the design of national health systems.
  3. Critically appraise research and reports associated with health system development and reform.
  4. Create proposals to respond to issues and challenges faced by national health systems.
  5. Effectively communicate issues and challenges associated with reforming and developing health systems to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
