This unit provides a solid understanding of the current digital health environment in Indonesia (and internationally) including examples of large-scale digital health initiatives. You will explore the different types of digital health data and their use and limitations in healthcare and research, introduce national data governance frameworks, and discuss how these policies and principles apply within institutions and organizations that use healthcare data. You will also take a deep dive into the implementation of Electronic Health Record in Indonesia and what has been learned from these experiences and discuss the impact of digital health on consumers, as well as introduce current and future digital health innovations that will continue to shape how healthcare evolves.

Learning outcomes
- Explain the current digital health environment and the aims of digital health in Indonesia.
- Critically appraise different types of health data and how this may be used in healthcare and research.
- Apply principles of data governance and data assets.
- Critically appraise the use of electronic health records, and the benefits and risks of digital health for consumers.
- Critically appraise digital health innovations, including the implications for skill development of the health workforce.
Workload
24 hours per week including directed and self-directed learning (scheduled classes, prescribed activities and independent work). Off campus attendance requirements: 6 weeks on-campus workshops.
