This unit is designed to develop an approach to digital imaging tools that aligns with the objectives of a contemporary art and curatorial practice. You will be introduced to digital imaging processes such as still image manipulation, moving image and various approaches to output such as printing and screen-based applications. While this unit provides a practical introduction to the basic digital imaging tools and materials there is an emphasis on the creative and experimental potential of these tools and how they are utilised within a broader creative practice. You are encouraged to develop your own creative direction alongside a critical awareness of ideas.

Learning outcomes
- Recognise the expressive and experimental possibilities of digital imaging technologies and be able to contextualise your work within a contemporary art practice;
- Demonstrate knowledge in the methods, materials and equipment used in digital processes;
- Use fundamental vocabulary for the discussion of ideas and the role of digital images within the broader context of contemporary art and society;
- Present your work in critique sessions with growing confidence as to its theoretical and historical rationale.
