Digital innovations, such as mobile applications, artificial intelligence, social media platforms, wearables, virtual and augmented reality have changed the way we interact with each other and the world around us. These digital innovations can impact our mood and mental health in both positive and negative ways. In this unit, you will learn about digital innovations and their application to the assessment, treatment, and management of cognitive and mental health. You will also learn to evaluate and reflect on some of the key challenges associated with the use of digital innovations including the governing ethical and legal frameworks. You will develop digital innovations oriented towards improving the availability, accessibility, and quality of cognitive and mental health care. This unit aims to prepare you for future work with digital modalities in clinical, health, research, and educational settings across a range of culturally diverse populations and client groups.
