In this unit you will develop essential skills for effective therapeutic practice by bridging your theoretical knowledge with practical application. You will see that this involves emphasizing evidence-based interventions, cultural competence, and ethical considerations. Throughout the unit, you will explore psychological theories, therapeutic factors, methods to establish and maintain rapport, engage in discussions on transference and countertransference dynamics, and understand the basic framework of cognitive and behavioral therapies, with a focus on both children and adults. The content is designed to tailor interventions to diverse client needs, fostering a client-centered approach. Your learning experience will be dynamic, featuring a blend of lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions that encourage active engagement with both instructors and peers. The Moodle platform will be utilised, offering organised learning materials presented in a user-friendly format. Learning outcomes
- Apply evidence-based practices while implementing psychological intervention.
- Formulate treatment plans and implementing interventions with a diverse client population.
- Apply the principles and guidelines of ethics by considering the cultural sensitivity and meet the diverse needs of the client.
- Demonstrate the key components of the therapeutic alliance to establish and maintain a relationship with clients.
- Demonstrate competence in cognitive behavioral therapy principles and application of techniques by inculcating the cultural sensitivity according to the needs of the clients.
- Develop skills in reflection, evaluating therapeutic styles, recognize strengths and areas of improvement.
