Overview

This unit provides an opportunity for you to undertake an individual research project in a discipline relating to a major area of study, that is conducted with a supervisor. You will develop skills in critical literature review, experimental design, data analysis, and report writing. You must maintain regular contact with supervisor(s) and subject coordinator. The experience gained in the unit will serve as training for postgraduate or professional research.

Learning outcomes

  1. Review and critically evaluate the scientific literature within the discipline;
  2. Conduct independent research, including defining research questions and developing research methodology;
  3. Manage time and the project with autonomy and efficiency, and communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders;
  4. Generate, manipulate, and interpret data relevant to the discipline;
  5. Analyse and explain the broader scientific and social aspects of research in their chosen field;
  6. Effectively present the research project orally, graphically and in written form.
