Overview
This unit will build on clay forming processes learnt in SCU1021. The unit will include an advanced level of skills and techniques used in forming clay to develop sculptural forms and utilitarian objects, as well as experimental glazing techniques. You will develop your own exploration of clay forming through objects and, or replicating multiples, as well as different firing and finishing techniques. You will be encouraged to explore various traditional as well as contemporary processes. Your exploration will be informed by your research into current exhibitions of contemporary artists that employ ceramics in their practices. You are encouraged to continue to deepen your knowledge of the environmental considerations of working with clay.
