Overview

This studio unit extends the exploration of smart technologies to encompass planning and development principles at the township level. Building on concepts from Urban design studio 2A, delve into how township-scale planning can integrate sustainable development practices, zoning, infrastructure, and community needs to shape resilient, adaptable environments.

Requisites

Learning outcomes

1. Apply planning and development principles for sustainable township growth;
2. Integrate zoning, land use, and infrastructure planning with technological solutions;
3. Develop frameworks for equitable and environmentally sound township layouts by leveraging relevant contemporary technologies with increasing skill;
4. Effectively communicate design ideas and proposals through visual presentations, models, and reports, using clear and persuasive design language;
5. Work collaboratively in a studio setting, incorporating feedback to refine and iterate design experiments toward a final proposal.

Workload

12 hours per week including 3 contact hours. The remaining 9 hours are to be used for self and group learning activities.
