This international double master's program enables you to complete the requirements of the Monash Master of International Development Practice as well as a second degree with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). You will study at Monash University in Australia and at the partner university. On successful completion of the academic program at Monash and the academic program at the partner university, students will be eligible to graduate with the degrees from both institutions, awarded separately. Equitable and sustainable human development remains a pressing global concern. Complex socio-political, health, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and ecological challenges contribute to extreme poverty, reduced human development, fragile governance and environmental vulnerability affecting the well-being of millions of people worldwide. These complex, multidimensional challenges require adaptable professionals with the practical skills and analytical capacity to strategically and ethically address them at community, national and global levels. Our graduates can adapt rapidly to changing circumstances while understanding that at the core of development practice are enduring principles of social justice, equity, inclusion, and sustainability The Master of International Development Practice offers a multi-disciplinary, applied approach to the theory and practice of sustainable human development. Delivered by specialists across the humanities and social sciences, medicine, business and economics, education and law Faculties, the program delivers rigorous research training alongside the critical and practical skills of project design and management and leadership skills. You may choose to focus your electives in one of the following areas: • democracy, justice and governance • gender, peace and security • crisis, change management and leadership • sustainable resource management • sustainable economies • global migration Graduate employment opportunities may include local and international non-government organisations, human rights advocacy, aid agencies, government, social enterprise, corporate social responsibility, the business sector, universities, community organisations, and international institutions such as the United Nations, World Bank and International Migration Organisation.

Structure

You must complete 30 credit points comprising: - APG5628, - APG5805; and - 18 credit points selected from the following units. Note: Students who commence at Monash will replace APG5805 with APG5045.

You must complete 6 credit points selected from the following units. Note 1: Electives are grouped into areas of interest. You may choose units from one area or across multiple elective areas to tailor your degree. The same units may appear in multiple areas/parts however each unit can only be credited once toward the degree. Note 2: Not all units run every year or semester. Some units may require prerequisite study or permission from the unit coordinator to enrol.
