Every scientific breakthrough is accompanied by a complex transition from the laboratory to the community and the corporate world is increasingly influenced by scientific advances and developments. This double degree course in commerce and science gives you the skills to commercialise scientific research or outcomes, or apply commercial knowledge in research environments. You have the opportunity to develop the technical and research skills required in scientific fields, while developing a strong understanding of the commercial realities of research as a business. You can combine your majors to explore areas of interest or develop new ones: • Pursue your mathematical talents with majors in applied mathematics and actuarial studies or econometrics, which could lead to an academic career or the development of new mathematical models and principles. • Blend studies in environmental science or conservation with a major in sustainability and introduce sustainable practices into the community or across organisations. • Turn majors in pharmacology and marketing science into a successful career marketing new medications or scientific breakthroughs.

Structure

You must complete 192 credit points, of which 96 credit points are from the Bachelor of Commerce (including all the requirements in Parts A, B and C for the single degree) and 96 credit points from the Bachelor of Science (including all the requirements in Parts A and B for the single degree). In this double degree, you will complete one major from Bachelor of Commerce (B2001) and one major from Bachelor of Science (S2000). Where you have space in your degree you may complete an additional major. Some majors, minors and specialisations include the same units. Where this occurs, up to 12 credit points may be shared between: - two majors; or - a major and a minor; or - a specialisation and a major or minor. Note: Units can only count toward one minor. They cannot be shared across multiple minors.

You must complete 96 credit points, including all of the requirements in Part A, Part B and Part C, for the Bachelor of Commerce. Note: If you are completing the Accounting major as part of this double degree, ECX2953 is required for professional accreditation. You can complete ECX2953 in Part A instead of ECC1000, and you will not be required to complete ECC1100.

You must complete 96 credit points, including all of the requirements in Parts A and B, for the Bachelor of Science. Notes: - In choosing the 96 credit points, you must ensure that you complete six science listed units (36 credit points) at Level 1, and ten science listed units (60 credit points) at Levels 2 and 3 with a minimum of four (24 credit points) at Level 3. You must complete the Mathematics and statistics unit requirement within the first 72 credit points of this double degree course. - Completion of ETC1000/ETX1100, in the Bachelor of Commerce component, will also meet the mathematics and statistics requirement of the Bachelor of Science, so you must complete an additional science unit as a replacement unit for ETC1000/ETX1100 within the Bachelor of Science component. - The psychology extended major is not available in this double degree.
