In this expert graduate course, law graduates develop advanced professional skills and knowledge of developments in the law, practice and scholarship of one or more areas of law. Students can focus on a specialised area or select from a broad range of electives for professional practice. The course enhances the capacity to undertake independent research, and provides options for a pathway to doctoral studies. You investigate contemporary issues in law, practice and scholarship, and evaluate complex legal issues from theoretical, international and interdisciplinary perspectives.
Structure
You must complete the following unit
You must complete 42 credit points in total. The Victorian Legal Admissions Board (VLAB) will specify which core units from the list below you are required to complete. You must make up any remaining credit points to reach the 42‑credit‑point total using Level 5 core and/or elective units offered by the Faculty of Law.

You must complete one of the specialisations below: Note1: If you do not want to complete a specialisation you must complete 12 credit points from the list of research-integrated electives in any specialisation and any remaining credit points from units in any specialisation. Note2: International students and those with a law degree from a non-Australian jurisdiction, who are admitted at entry Level 2 or 3 must complete LAW5081 Australian legal process and research.

Students may apply for LAW4811 In‑house clinical placement: Law reform and systemic change, or MON5750 Monash Innovation Guarantee (MIG). Refer to the Notes section for more information on the MIG program.
