In this unit you will develop foundational music performance skills through preparation and presentation of performance materials such as technical work, studies, solo and collaborative repertoire suitable for first year tertiary level. You will engage in solo, ensemble and collaborative performance activities, as you develop a holistic artistic practice.

Learning outcomes
- Demonstrate a foundational level of instrumental/vocal technique, including control of rhythm, articulation, accuracy, timbre, dynamics and intonation (where applicable);
- Prepare and present performance materials such as technical requirements, studies, solo repertoire and/or collaborative repertoire suitable for first year tertiary level;
- Demonstrate a foundational level of professional musicianship and/or creativity, including appropriate artistic expression, improvisation and/or technology as appropriate;
- Demonstrate holistic artistic practice through awareness of musicians' health and wellbeing issues relevant to performance.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
