Overview

Building on foundational translation concepts, in this unit you will focus on practical problem-solving in translation studies. You will develop and apply strategies for resolving translation issues through translating various types of texts. Through text-analysis projects you will enhance bilingual competence and your readiness for real-world translation scenarios and professional practice.

Learning outcomes

  1. critically evaluate key concepts and theories in translation studies, focusing on how genres influence text classification and translation strategies;
  2. apply key concepts to develop practical approaches to genre-specific translation;
  3. use bilingual skills and application of translation strategies to communicate effectively in both languages and adapt texts across various genres in a range of professional contexts.
