This unit is designed to help you better understand the lending functions of banks, the types of lending products available to individuals and corporate borrowers, the credit origination process, qualitative and quantitative analysis to evaluate the creditworthiness of prospective borrowers, loan management and the principles of responsible banking. This unit will prepare you to become a credit analyst at banks or other lending institutions.

Learning outcomes
- recommend lending products based on borrowers' needs
- evaluate the creditworthiness of borrowers using qualitative and quantitative techniques in loan applications
- demonstrate communication skills in presenting credit analysis findings to the approval committee
- apply reflective thinking skills related to loan documentation and management
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
