Overview

The unit begins with an introduction to chemistry of life considering the physiological buffering system and cellular environment. Next, the focus on the structure and functions of carbohydrates. This is followed by a comprehensive survey of metabolism of carbohydrates in the production of bioenergy. The integration of the cellular metabolism and hormonal regulation of integrated metabolism are also emphasised.
