Technical artists bridge the gap between creative, programming and engineer teams in game development. This unit introduces you to the core principles of technical artistry, including shader technology, pre and post processing, visual effects, and tools creation. Using professional software and techniques, you will be given the opportunity to workshop and design unique digital entertainment experiences.

Learning outcomes
- Evaluate technical art procedures and methodologies for game development;
- Research and deploy shaders, particles and pre and post processing for real time visual effects;
- Develop procedural tools for real time game mechanics;
- Design and create unique digital entertainment experiences.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled online and face to face learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated reading and preparation for scheduled activities. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning and online engagement.
