This unit explores the law and policy of financial regulation from.a comparative perspective. The unit will explore approaches to financial regulation and ask students to think critically about the policy choices underlying various approaches to financial regulation.

Learning outcomes

1. Identify and apply fundamental legal principles governing comparative financial regulation.
2. Critically analyse and persuasively evaluate key concepts and policies in comparative financial regulation, contextualised within a broad range of practice, policy and theoretical perspectives.
3. Conduct research, analyse and synthesise complex information in order to respond to complex issues relating comparative financial regulation.
4. Communicate effectively and persuasively to a range of topics in comparative financial regulation.

Workload

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. The unit requires on average three/four hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
