In this unit you will have the opportunity to build on foundational knowledge, to further develop advanced clinical reasoning skills and practical application of assessment and management of individuals with or at risk of wounds. Learning opportunities will challenge you to critically analyse and debate current evidence-based literature, while exploring the fundamental principles that underpin contemporary wound care practice. Using a holistic approach, you will grow practical skills in assessment and management. You will enhance your communication skills to effectively convey complex wound care concepts to diverse audiences across various modalities, including patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. This knowledge will enable you to demonstrate ethical principles when caring for patients and their families living with wounds. The unit will also provide opportunities to recognise, analyse and debate controversial and contentious issues within the wound care field, preparing you to navigate complex clinical scenarios with confidence and professional integrity.

- Synthesis clinical reasoning skills to apply advanced assessment and management techniques to people with or at risk of wounds.
- Critique existing evidence based literature and the fundamental principles in the assessment and management of wounds.

- Differentiate the professional leadership skills and ethical principles required when caring for patients and their families with wounds.
- Recognise and debate the controversial and contentious issues relating to wound care.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. The unit requires on average 10-12 hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include teacher directed learning, reading time, participation in online discussions, research and preparation for assignments.
