Overview

The unit forms a key element of Theme 4 – Research and Practice in Nutrition. It gives you the chance to apply what you have learned throughout Years 1, 2, and 3 in nutrition, food, and medical sciences within a real-world workplace setting. You will be responsible for identifying and securing a suitable placement site, as outlined, before the commencement of the internship. You will work independently and within a team to design and deliver an evidence-based nutrition program tailored to the needs of your host organisation. This is your opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience and insights into the daily work of a professional nutritionist. You will be supported and monitored by the university supervisor and on-site supervisor(s) who will guide your progress. To successfully complete the unit, you must ensure that an approved placement site has been secured prior to the start of the internship. You must fulfil at least 640 hours of placement and meet all academic requirements. These include assessments conducted by your on-site supervisor and the university supervisor. Through this unit, you will enhance your practical skills, build professional confidence, and prepare yourself for a career in the field of nutrition.
