Overview

In this unit, you will learn about occupational therapy's historical origins and theoretical foundations. Using case studies and practical learning activities, you will explore and apply theoretical concepts, models, and frameworks to understand and guide the professional reasoning processes in occupational therapy practice. You will gain an understanding of the principles and mechanisms underlying the relationship between people, their environment, and their daily occupations and how this relates to human health and well-being. You will develop foundational knowledge of the psychometric properties of occupational therapy assessments and measures, which will help you understand their quality, relevance, and usefulness in professional practice. While completing this unit, you spend two days in a public health setting observing occupational therapy practice.
