In this unit, you will examine the topics of professionalism, professional development, preparation for employment, self-management and supervision as a beginning practitioner. You will consider ethical, medicolegal, risk and safety compliance in various health, education and social care practice environments. In preparation for the transition to a graduate practitioner, you will critique the scope of contemporary occupational therapy practice in complex and evolving service delivery environments.

Learning outcomes
- Identify and evaluate relevant professional supervision and support strategies to ensure safe and competent professional practice.
- Apply principles of reflection and self-critique to achieve and enhance professional competency in occupational therapy practice.
- Analyse and critique the scope of contemporary occupational therapy practice, and factors driving change in evolving service contexts.
- Select and justify service provision methods/ programmes to provide responsive, safe and evidence-based practice in complex occupational therapy service situations.
- Synthesise own knowledge and skills in career development and preparation for employment in occupational therapy.
Workload
On campus: 2 hours of face to face seminars and 4 hours tutorials per week. Off campus: 6 hours of online lectures, videos and learning modules Self-directed study time: 12 hours A total of 72 hours of non-scheduled teaching activities consisting of lectures, videos and modules
