Overview

In this capstone unit, you will integrate advanced clinical knowledge, skills and professional capabilities developed throughout the Master of Paramedic Practitioner to assess and manage patients with complex healthcare needs. You will extend your advanced assessment, diagnostic reasoning and therapeutic decision-making across diverse and specialised healthcare contexts. You will consider how individual circumstances, diversity, health inequity, social determinants, vulnerability and access to care influence clinical presentations, decision-making and patient outcomes. Through various learning methods, complex clinical cases, and facilitated discussion, you will examine person-centred, culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches to care, ethical and legal complexity, safeguarding, interprofessional and interagency coordination, leadership and professional autonomy. Capstone activities will require you to synthesise learning from across the course, evaluate practice, justify advanced clinical decisions and consider the role and contribution of the Paramedic Practitioner within complex clinical practice.
