Overview

This unit introduces you to an advanced level of knowledge and skills related to the critical care management of patients with cardiac complications. You will explore the pathophysiology of cardiac disease, and link this to the prehospital, and hospital treatment pathways. Additionally, you will explore the epidemiology and patient profile of cardiac conditions, and you will combine this with an advanced capacity to assess and care for this patient cohort. In the unit you will apply educational strategies to consolidate clinical learning and support the development of your peers in advance cardiac care. You must be actively engaged in appropriate clinical practice, clinical placements or clinical simulation to achieve the outcomes of this unit.
