Overview

This unit will enhance your knowledge and understanding of a range of topics relevant to the practice of pharmacy; further develop and refine skills in communication, teamwork, integrity, empathy and problem solving; and provide the opportunity for you to implement your knowledge and skills acquired throughout the course in various practice settings through the Student Experiential Placements (StEPs) Program. This unit will build on learnings form PHR3062 Student experiential placements 1.

This unit is a pass grade only (PGO) unit. Assessment will comprise of 100% in semester assessments. All learning outcomes will be assessed. This unit contains one or more competency hurdle assessment tasks that you must successfully complete to be able to pass the unit. You have one attempt, plus an additional assessment, to demonstrate your competency in the competency hurdle assessment task. If you fail to meet the hurdle requirement, you will receive a fail grade for the unit.

Learning outcomes

  1. Describe the delivery of pharmaceutical care, and the role of pharmacists, in a range of practice environments
  2. Demonstrate delivery of credentialed activities semi-autonomously, by applying the knowledge and skill gathered from units over the duration of the course
  3. Demonstrate delivery of non-credentialed activities under direct supervision, by applying the knowledge and skill gathered from units over the duration of the course
  4. Reflect on identified strengths and weaknesses to develop Personalised Learning Plans to enhance professional skills required to practice as a pharmacist

• 24 hours of pre-placement briefings and on-campus instruction (4 x 1 day) • 280 hours of professional experiential placements (2 x 4 weeks x 5 days x 7 hours) • 1 hour of skills coaching session
