Overview

In this unit, you will develop knowledge and skills in administering and interpreting child psychological assessments. These include intelligence measures (e.g. WISC-V) and other tools commonly used to evaluate cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and developmental functioning in children. You will learn how to administer and interpret these assessments. You will also learn how to use these psychological assessment tools ethically, including the ethical use of psychological assessments across cultures.

Learning outcomes

1. Demonstrate the skill of administration, scoring and interpretation of psychological assessments.
2. Select psychological assessment tools appropriate for individual child clients.
3. Appropriately score and interpret data from psychological assessments.
4. Communicate psychological assessment findings to a range of stakeholders.
5. Critically evaluate the role of cultural and ethical factors in the administration and interpretation of psychological tests.

Workload

Contact hours for students: 3-hr workshop per week Additional requirements for students: Independent study including preparation, research activities, engaging with the literature, practicing test administration to make up the required minimum hours during the semester.
