You will undertake a range of clinical experiences and associated tasks within this unit that will assist your evolution as an effective life-long learner and reflective practitioner. This unit provides an important stepping stone for the continued development of comprehensive research skills and your ability to practice as an evidence-informed clinician, who is engaged with other health professionals to advance physiotherapy knowledge and practice. The competencies obtained in this unit are fundamental preparations for the Year 4 physiotherapy research projects.

Requisites
Learning outcomes
- Develop and practice skills of critical reflection on learning needs, clinical performance and patient care;
- Communicate appropriately and effectively across written, verbal and electronic communication mediums;
- Demonstrate professional behaviour in patient care and rights that is culturally sensitive and in accordance with legal requirements;
- Critically appraise a clinical practice guideline and report upon key findings.
- Characterise the key principles governing ‘Good Clinical Practice’ in clinical research;
- Demonstrate knowledge of quality improvement process via design of a clinically relevant activity proposal.
Workload
This unit is anticipated to take 12-hours of work per week across the semester, however as the unit is designed to be taken in parallel to other clinical placement units, this largely asynchronous workload can be flexed by the student to enable their optimum performance in other units being undertaken also. A typical week will include 9 self-directed hours, and 1 tutor facilitated session, and 2 x clinical educator engaged sessions.
